7 Deadly Sins Sonnets -#7 Pride

7 Deadly Sins Sonnets -#7 Pride

A Poem by Nyghtmare13
"

This is the Seventh of seven sonnets concerning the Seven Deadly Sins, as defined by the Catholic Church. They are older poems that I wrote in High School.

"

They are proud and haughty to all others,

Their high opinion of their own self-worth.

To everyone your ego can smother.

They have no respect for others on Earth.

They are proud of what they think they own,

Make everyone respect their big ego.

They will end up being nothing but bones.

If you are careful, you don’t have to go.

But you have nothing to fear if you have

Humility, which may save you now.

They can not ever learn to behave,

Which is very sad, because you now know,

All other sins stem from horrible Pride.

The Seventh deadly sin, the worst is Pride.

I would recommend reading these aloud, there are a lot of words which look like they would rhyme until you speak them aloud. ex. now and know; behave and have, they sound very different. A better rhyme for behave would be something like, "If not, forever your interned as their slave" Although this obviously doesn't flow into the next line the way you have it structured. And yet again, check syllable counts.
