My God and Friend

My God and Friend

Who can ever find one--

A true friend like God,

Who knows my discouragements? And none

Can ever be like God.

He fills my every longing

For someone who is away.

Each day I am lying

On His shoulder where I can stay.

He comforts me when I'm depressed

And wipes my tears away.

He cares when I'm distressed

And never leaves me astray.

Every time I feel afraid

He tells me that I am safe.

In my prayer that time I said,

"My God and friend, please keep me safe."

I open His Word and He teaches me

To do and live right.

And then I know that He really cares for me,

And never leaves me by His sight.

I realize that I am blessed

To have a God and friend

Who lets me feel that I am blessed

And guides me to the end.
