You've stayed me like a rock in murky water

Keen if you haven’t bothered, but me?

Seen slowly, wondering the streets of a lifetime

In a crowded guild of hidden chapters

 

What portrait;

I could paint in dusty caverns

In its entirety, bring?

But hopelessness in vivid consciousness

 

And you stand there!

Stare- clear so god damn awake

While I take in heed.

From the very notion of tomorrow

 

Gathered, sent for me such water

Poisoned by the likes of day

…and in the darkness of its yesterday

Such w***e

 

Which I couldn’t touch

Without the share of gratitude

In its stubbornness,

Found hiding in your library of weathered journals

 

Stood here, in confronted memory

Laid loose from distortion

No possibility but me

In what likelihood stood-

In the benevolence of our tragedy

Joshua, you have a way with words, I will give you that. Always impressed with your writing and subject matter, and this is no different. You bring us into the heart of it all and have us feel everything, right along each line. I can't pick one or two lines as favorites... as they all fit, form and function together, creating a great poem.
