Lack thereof

Lack thereof

A Poem by OhSnapShley

Drowning out the voice in your head,
but still hearing every word it says,
imagine a day that is always night,
where everything that lives still needs sunlight,
an agony of pain just to appease,
where one does not live,
but only breathes.
Cutting the images from your mind,
hoping to lose those pieces for the rest of time,
even though they always come flooding back,
but only in your nightmares,
so sleep you lack,
followed by a lack of trust,
praying for the day you can finally feel love.

Hanging on to every ounce of hope,
not knowing if or when to finally give up,
when every second feels like a minute,
and every hour feels like a century,
how long will this last?
Will I ever get my love back?
With the lack of love
and lack of trust
how will I know when love shows up?
How do I know it's true and mine?
With the lack thereof I may never find,
a heart as pure and gold as mine.

I like how this piece developed as it seemed to grow more desperate as it went revealing the very core of what the feelings that inspired this write really were. Keep following that voice; it will blossom so wholly it will melt the world with it's beauty. Great job!
