Love Abstract

Love Abstract

A Poem by Meghan
"

This is pretty deterrent from what I normally write. It was in response to a contest prompt on another website. For what it is, I think it's alright. Suggestions welcome!

"

From conceptual to concrete:

A taste vile and bitter

Or tender on the tongue.

Consider theoretical to tactile:

Smooth, solid surface,

Gritty and deteriorating,

Or ductile, supple.

Philosophical to tangible:

A smell sulfuric and suffocating,

Filling the nostrils,

Choking the lungs,

Or pleasing and brisk

When opened the window.

Love has an imposing posture,

Clean cut, strong-jawed,

But with soft eyes and gentle hands.

She is slender and slight,

But her beauty draws all attention,

And she keeps it with incandescence.

Love sings so the heavens may hear

And with such emotive expression

That we are stricken

With perfect pitch,

And melt

To vibrato,

And chase its accelerando.

Overwhelmed so, tears spring from our eyes.

We laugh, and plead for its return"

Legato,

Diminuendo.
