bete noir

A Poem by Meghan
"

While many of my pieces are based on dreams I've had, this one doesn't correspond to one specifically. It's more of a summation of nightmares.

"

my dreams are title-less,
though their plots are thick
with regression, conjuring
unfortunate emotions,
consciously suppressed by day
and later, unconsciously rebuked.

my brain is in two:
wakefulness
and malicious chimera;
the paradoxical hunger for sleep
and the dread of subconscious somnambulation
from my pillow,
to the staircase,
off of which I cast myself
into learned helplessness
as my vital fluids drip
out of my mouth,
over the balcony,
and onto the floor.
