Red Ink

Red Ink

A Poem by Olivia Marie

Staining the white paper
A marking of death
A marking of truth
Blotching the surface
Red as lipstick
Dark as revenge
Covering and drowning
The end of my pen

You have to keep reading
But you still want to stop
Warnings in blood
And even the things
My Savior has taught
All the same shade
All the same look
All of the morals
Held in that book

And why may I ask
Is it all written in red?
All just symbolic
Of the blood that's been shed
And why do I write
In a shade so true?
All just in memory
Of blood shed for you.

Not what I expected, but very nicely done.

Interesting. I like it, but the rhyming and stanzas change throughout the poem. I don't know if that's what you were trying to do, but that's what I noticed. Excellent poem!
