This World

This World

A Poem by Omikron
"

Oh, cruel world.

"
This world that we live in, our little light in the dark
This time that we know so well, is the inscription on reality's arc

This world, that we call our only home, who is welcome here?
Survival of the fittest, all wrongs must disappear

This world is supposed to be safe, then why is it so mean?
Why do I always have to fall, when I need a place to lean?

This world is a world where humans are supposed to rule
But it's the other way around, because a human is but a fool

This world that we live in, our little light in the dark
Why do you always fade away whenever I need a spark?

I'm surprised this hasn't been reviewed. I quite liked it. I'm a sucker for life questions and hardships conveyed through a rhyme scheme.

The only thing I would point out is that in line 8, the use of "but" more than once and "because" in that same sentence makes its readability just a little awkward.
In any case, I think it's a good read.
