The Rain

The Rain

A Chapter by Omikron

One was born in a cold space
One was taught to freeze
One learned to complain in silence
One was taught to think thoughts
That had already been thought before
Worn out, copied, sold

One was raised as an equal
Equal or an equivalent?
Equal
Equally empty
As the other equals
As the other ones

One has thrived in darkness
Though thriving in darkness is quite lonesome
As there is nothing to thrive for
No one to thrive for

One has survived the winters
Over and over again
One has kept one's face above the surface
When the streets were flooding
With lethargy
And lovelessness

One has despised the sun
When shining with all its glory
And kind intention

One has despised the wind
When it blew whispers from another land
Secrets hidden in the whossshhhh
Were drowned by the noise of our own wailing

One has despised the rain
Dancing on sad and grey platforms
Caressing the cheeks of people in need of a touch
Forcing us to feel the sensation
Of caged tears running down our faces
Tears from the overwhelming cup of hollowness
Wiping away the facade
The makeup of perfection
The illusion of control
Melting the masks forged by a civilized world

What remains?
After the rain has purged us all
Removed our shells
And destroyed the delicate composition
Of the modern man

What remains?
After the rain has swept every one of us
Away
What remains?
When the rain has stopped
And the skies have cleared
Shedding a new light on the world

What remains
Are our true selves
What remains
Are humans
That were lost at sea
The sea of lethargy and lovelessness
But now
Have been washed up to the shore

The shore of stripped, raw and wonderful

Humanity
