You

You

A Poem by Omikron

Yes
I know you
I know you very well
The way the shadow falls under your lips
Every single glisten in your eyes, every reflection
Every shade of the different straws of your hair
Though I wish I didn't know all this
That I didn't remember
That the brain would forget
Something that the heart so desperately wants to forget
So desperately wants to destroy
The very memory of you
Makes me want to spill my guts out
Turns my stomach up and down
Turns my heart round and round
I wish I could terminate you
Erase you
That what has been done never had been done
What I had sown would die and never grow
But it grows
And it tears me apart on the inside
On the outside too
How come I have changed so much
Since you left me for good
But when the memories come to haunt me
I haven't changed at all
How come I still feel a spark
A flame when I look at you
Even after all you did to me
All the things you said to me
All the ways you broke me
All the times you killed me
All the times you lied to me
All the times you embarrassed me
All the times you disappointed me
All the times you hated me
All the times I hated you
After all these times
How come
It only takes one second
One picture
One memory
And just like that
I want to relive it all
All of those times
All of those ways
All of the pain you caused me
Again
And again

The ways of the human heart are past finding out. It is as though we think pain and love are siblings.
