SETTLING THE SCORE

SETTLING THE SCORE

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Hell hath no furry like a woman scorned.

"

His eye was more than fond of a pretty face and
Skin-tight jeans, and his sweet-talking words
Unsettled the night like midnight on blackness.

Why could I not see it? Were my eyes blinded by
Cataracts as I tried to separate shards of truth from
His lies? Particles of dread settled on the living
And the dead while my thoughts became
A clatter of echoes behind me. But.....

I knew what had to be done. It simply had to be done.
I'd rehearsed it over and over again in the solitude of
Darkness and knew I needed to protect the other pretty
Skirts from his evil eye. And although I've never done
Anything like this before....ever, I really believe
A deep knife-edge plunge should help settle the score.
