SEEMS WE NEVER LEARN

SEEMS WE NEVER LEARN

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

Why does it seem so difficult to learn from our mistakes in order NOT to make them again?

"
SEEMS WE NEVER LEARN

Sitting by the pool on a hot summers' night
Looking at the moon that is such a grand sight
Waiting for your call saying you'll be home soon
Looking up to see the huge glowing harvest moon...

Thinking to myself of the words we would say
Knowing that too soon it would be our last day
Pressing out the wrinkles from your Army greens
Stopping to remember all the death they had seen

Wond'ring why on earth this war never seems to end
Whispering a prayer for the world to be friends
It would be serene if we all could get along
Loving one another...like it says in a song

Hovering in a ditch with a ready, loaded gun
Surely is no dream from the golden morning sun
Seems we never learn from all our past mistakes
Maybe we should learn to give more than we take

'Pressing out the wrinkles from your Army greens
Stopping to remember all the death they had seen' - what tragedies they could tell.

Words said over and over Time Past and Present.. by desperate us, nowadays waking up to yet more dark. dark news. You've said so much, felt it too.. acknowledging all those lessons unlearned from the past. What next, Pat.. what next? If only we could wave magic wands and bring harmony singing loud as loud.

you`re welcome stranger
People repeat mistakes as history repeats itself. You are so right. We never learn from the mistakes of the past as if we have blinders on our eyes. I guess we want to keep our power and greed to ourselves. An excellent write, Miss Sharon.
