'OLE BLUE A PRAYIN'

'OLE BLUE A PRAYIN'

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

If dogs could talk....

"
'OLE BLUE A PRAYIN'

I saw 'ole Blue a prayin',
Right there beside his bed.
He spoke in dog-like whispers,
And here is what he said...

Dear Lord I want to thank You,
For all You've done for me.
My master is a good one,
She fills my heart with glee!

She gives me bones and burgers,
She cooked up for herself.
And when she's not a-lookin',
I climb up on the shelf....

And help myself to cookies
She baked for her dear Jim,
And when she sees they're missing,
She bakes some more for him!

Oh yes, I am so lucky,
To have her for my own......
I have to go 'cause she is done
A talkin' on the phone.

Sharon: This is witty! You've used your usual fine meter, has a clever running tale, love the finish plus, start to finish is like a colourful cartoon. Having read twice near see a smirking dog preparing to go curl up on the nearest chair as if its been sleeping for hours! Obviously a born survivor!

We so need great helpings of kind and smiling words these days, especially now Spring. (Or could be, eventually!) Many thank yous for sharing. My bedtime reading has been such welcome fun.'

I've written dozens of dog poems, but never one as liltingly pleasant as this! I love the premise of personification, praying while the human is on the phone, & it unfolds slowly & tantalizingly. I love how you use strong details so we can picture & feel how things go around this house! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is such a sweet and delightful poem. I love pets. My little dachshund. I’d give him my cookies. Just lovely.

Waving... smiling...
it's a dog's life!!!!!!!!!!

and in this case, that means it is probably better than being human.

a dog's best friend is his or her human!

bark bark bark to this fun write....and i have to go pet my cat or she will get jealous.
