I SAW THEM HUDDLED

I SAW THEM HUDDLED

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

But for the grace of God go I.....

"
     I SAW THEM HUDDLED

I saw them huddled on the ground
Beneath a simple spread.
The wind was cold that win'try day
And yet they had no bed.

What circumstance or evil fate
Had placed them both at risk,
For on the streets no one is safe...
On this I shall insist.

Oh, I know some would scold and say
They brought this on themselves,
But who are we to scoff and judge
When someone needs our help?

We never know what lies beyond
The corner of our day,
So it behooves us...friends to be
To those along our way.

Oh sometimes there are those who bring it upon themselves and end up on the street, but in this world, so many are just lost to the capitalistic system...and are not part of the chosen.
They make it the best they can...and cardboard houses don't have very nicely manicured yards.
really good write, Sharon,

How true this is...the homeless did not necessarily bring on their circumstances themselves. Sometimes circumstances rule our world and determine our days. Again, the compassion in this write is touching and the rhyming is super. Lydi**

so very true .. a lesson to be learned and re-learned over and over ..fine rhyme and rhythm Ms. Sharon .. well said ... i think this covid thing brings life's fragility starkly into perspective ... no matter what kind of "cushion" we might en masse ... it can be yanked out from under us in a flash ... i think a beautiful heart is reflected in this poem :)

this is an ever increasing phenomenon more highlighted with Covid 19
Apparently we (our Community) has the province's largest homeless community and I wonder how long before tragedy sets in

Indeed, and in this grim time homelessness is to be doubly dreaded.
