THE IMPACT OF HIS ABSENCE

THE IMPACT OF HIS ABSENCE

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

I'll let you decide!

"
THE IMPACT OF HIS ABSENCE

The impact of his absence is
Quite deeper so it seems,
Than imprints of his presence in
My thoughts and in my dreams.

He enters by a door that I
So surely thought was locked,
And stirs each image there within
My mind like broken clocks.

How can this be I say to me
How did this all begin?
Can thoughts bestir the memories
Of things held deep within?

When night has come to settle 'round
And fill the heart with fear,
I lay me down and try to sleep
Betrayed by silent tears.

The contradictory heart and mind can sometimes feel like jello that never quite sets, leaving us with such fluid thoughts and feelings that they act like a roaring river,, doomed to never rest.
We conclude and accept rationale in the cold light of day, but heart and mind rarely read those memos and forever replay the aches.
Beautifully captured Sharon.

Your word economy is beautiful.

I'm afraid to say more without being hypocritical.

My pleasure.
dearest Sharon... you have touched the keys that play our broken heart...
with chords interlocked... a melody of divine grace when I look upon his face...
albeit but a dream. gently, Pat

You also have touched me with your king words in review! Thank you. ~Sharon
I have not dealt with this sort of close partner (I'm assuming) loss and although you have presented your feeling in a beautifully done form, it remains a situation I hope I never go through
At times we need an off-on button to back seat difficult memories

Thank you so much Dave for your kind and compassionate words! ~Sharon
This is one of the finest examples I've read in weeks where a poet (you!) has crafted a zinging rhyme & rhythm bouncing along, yet the message is even more zippy & takes center stage. It's been a discussion in some of my reviews lately about how sometimes form usurps message, but here you've perfected the balance between the two. I also love how this sounds sorta like a "poor me" piece but then there's this playful tongue-in-cheek aspect that makes us know this narrator is not seriously bugged by this . . . maybe even kinda looking for the interloper at times (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you so much my friend for the lovely review! Muchly appreciated! ~Sharon
You've opened your memory box and horror of horrors: found a very strange, painful and icy cold emptiness. Seems what you thought had evaporated, never has. and scarily, might never entirely go. Tis the thinking time in bed, alone, that.. emptiness hits most.

You've written so lyrically, grammatically, emotionally. Sharon, this tragedy makes enormous impact..

Oh, my friend, the emotional pain in this write is palpable! When we lie down, all our memories dance in our psyches and sometimes the wrong ones come to the forefront. May your dreams only be pleasant, Sharon. Lydi**

Thanks so much Cassie for your kind words! Sharon
what a great poem .. into me ol' library it goes Sharon .. first verse is just killer .. impact of his absence deeper than his presence ... so profound and cool says i! its a treat to read such a well rhymed and rhythm'd poem that has a huge universal relatability to it ... our thoughts direct our feelings .. i have no doubt about that ... (tho that debate rages on) the closing is so sublime in suffering and enduring .. i really appreciate you sharing this fine poem ... as always :) peace love and joy
