ALL THE DUST WE HAD ATE!

ALL THE DUST WE HAD ATE!

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

A day in the life of a cowboy.

"
ALL THE DUST WE HAD ATE!

He was ridin' against the wind that day.
The horses were tired and needed some hay.
His saddle seemed hard and lumpy at best...
The place where he sat sure needed a rest!

The sun was a blazin' for all it was worth,
And one mama cow plopped down and gave birth.
The dust was so thick it left grit on your teeth,
But all you could think of was fat juicy beef!

That night for dinner 'ole Charlie cooked steak.
Then it was worth all the dust we had ate!
The life of a cowboy is not one for sissies
Or sweet little gals that the fellers called missies!

As is always the case, your sense of rhythm and rhyme is superb, Sharon. I especially liked, "The place where he sat sure needed a rest!" You really put a smile on my face with this one. I had visions of the Marlboro Man riding into the sunset to cook his steak for dinner. Wonderful. Lydi**

Makes me more grateful that steaks and burgers don't need to be hunted by us and that there is always a story of how it got to our plate thst we rarely think of.
I shall think of them all and smile, next time I'm picking out a steak and burgers from the supermarket and be super grateful I didn't have to catch it myself, otherwise I'd most likely be vegan 😀

Wow awesome poem in great rhyming and I enjoyed the country scenes and love the mention of horses. I hope they didn't eat the cow that just gave birth aw. Kudos for a superb one.

Such is the life of a cowboy. Can’t say I ever stayed on the range night after. Night. But I think I know the
Life well enough. As always the attention to detail makes it look effortless you are really good at this

You’re welcome
Nothing like a real cowboy...this reminds me of when I was about 12 and in Boy Scouts. We did a paper drive to make enough money to spend a week at a dude ranch...
There were two cowboys who basically ran the show...one was a summer and weekend cowboy, the other was real...
there was quite a difference between the two...
one had that dust...the other? well....
