SPENDING MY LIFE

SPENDING MY LIFE

A Poem by Miss Sharon
"

A nature write stating that this is a great place to spend the rest of my life.

"
SPENDING MY LIFE

The eyes are the first thing I see. Just to the left,
about a stones-throw distance. They are a pack of five.
Taking no notice of my presence they move in unison
across the trail directly in front of me...coyote hunting
for their lunch.

A rocky sky bent path leading to solitude winds a road deep
into the Colorado mountains and into my heart. Seeing a
bridge thrown across the quickly cascading waterfall, I
accept my invitation to adventure and aesthetic pleasures.

Jagged peaks frosted by winter's breath snuggle stately
Aspen and evergreens as sunlight diamonds dance on Emerald Lake
completing the big picture.

I am enraptured by the smaller delicacies of blue Columbine,
vacationing butterflies, chocolate-vanilla magpies and scuttle-butt chip monks.

Pausing for lunch and illegally sharing it with my winged
friends, I think perhaps animals like me but people only
tolerate me.

Savoring the scent of lodge pole pine, suspended in a magic essence and awe, I hear mature spruce whisper..."This is a
great place to spend the rest of your life."

                      And I believe them.

Indeed your neck of the woods is a great place to spend the rest of your life; such imaginative images, wish I was there; sometimes I also feel like nature's creatures like me more than humans... they don't talk back and are inquisitive and lovely to watch. Very well written Sharon.
Best, B.

This hits me so well in my thinking. I can see this in my own world in the Scottish highlands. Beautiful, fascinating writing.

Becoming one with nature is an awesome feeling. I've always felt like the best church was out there, in the hills, by the lakes, on the mountains and down in the deep valleys where the streams flow clear. It's really a spiritual experience to be alone at sunrise with nothing but the wild surrounding you. Of course nature can be brutal too without no comfort of home so while it's wonderful to visit the wilderness, I think I'll spend most of my time with my family in the confines of our house. Sometimes it's not about where you are as much as who you're with. I enjoyed the read. F.

Sharon this story/nature write is filled with majestic wildlife and wild, vivid imagery. It is prose so well-written that we can enjoy it with all our senses. What a beautiful place you live in! I have never been to Colorado but you allow me to see it through your eyes. Thank you!

I was there...saw the eyes, felt the chill...as the coyotes tried to slither away...
