Un Chien

Un Chien

A Poem by Anna Auel
"

poem inspired by the short film "Un Chien Andalou"

"

Slice the moon from my eye

Barber barber barber

these ants crawl out of you"a black mass in your palm shimmy&twitch I’m transfixed

it crawls

toward me

Barber barber barber

watch that girl"we creep from behind sashed windows"

poke the severed hand in the street

stay away stay away everyone stand back!

This is my own pleasant daydream, I’ll smile

and I’ll die clutching my dream to my chest

“That girl in the street inspired me"life is short let me feel you feel you up and imagine the beneath

The naked you underneath.”

I want you but I’m afraid of wanting you

that’s why the priests are here!

(our graves will be this sand)

Barber barber barber

The seaside is lovely this time of year

8 years 16 years last year next spring

The door opens right onto it, right onto my mind

making you love me"but not you"the you that’s not you, another

Kiss me and I’ll bless your mouth lead you on the path

Of buried graveyard markers,

Barber barber barber
