The Journey of the Merman Joe

The Journey of the Merman Joe

A Poem by Nashville Rose
"

Merman Joe is going on land for the first time! However, when an enchantress enters his path, he realizes how much of hassle land folk can be!

"

He was born in the sea,

With a grand destiny,

Half fish, half man,

He was a boy with a plan.

With a conch shell to his ear,

He let out a mighty cheer,

Then strut upon the land,

With a bottle in his hand.

They called him a drunk,

Whose sanity had sunk.
But he knew better,

Than those two leggers,

He came across a lass,

In a middle of a path,

And she said, said she,

“Dance away with me.”

They danced upon the night,

Until the sunrise shone bright,

And she gave him a kiss,

Right beside his lips.

He then fell asleep,

In an embarrassing heap.

When he awoke in the morning.

No memories were turning.

So he walked amongst the town,

And met a man with a frown,

Who told him the way,

To get his memories regained.

The boy thought with a grin,

“This should be a pinch,”

An enchantress he had to beat,

And get her magic keys.

But on his way there,

He met a girl tall and fair,

And she gave him a smile,

That made him stay a little while.

She held out her hand,

and they began to dance,

they danced the night away,

Until the very next day.

The girl gave him a kiss,

Just above his lips,

And he fell into a dream,

Of a dancing blue stream.

The boy woke up with shock,

And found that he forgot,

Everything that day,

So he stumbled upon his way.

A man in the town,

he met with a frown,

Told him a way,

To get his memories regained,

The boy was cautious,

And asked about the enchantress.

And the man simply replied,

She was a girl that caught men's eyes.

On his way down a road,

He met a girl with fancy clothes,

And he asked her why,

She stopped when he walked by.

She said with a grin,

That quickly drew him in.

“Do I seem familiar to you?

Does my love seem true?”

He stopped with a ponder,

And then he wondered.

If this could be the monster,

He was searching after.

The girl sighed with a smile,

And grabbed him all the while.

And gave him a kiss.

Right upon his lips.

When he awoke with a fright,

He remembered all those nights,

And he heard a faint whisper in his ear,

“Don’t forget me my dear.”

The next day he went with glee,

All the way to his home in the sea,

And never looked back to land,

A place he just didn’t understand.
