A Letter From Daughter To Father

A Letter From Daughter To Father

A Poem by PadfootBlack

One day
I'll be able to fall asleep without leaving tears on the pillow and I'll
no longer seek refuge in the touch of a razor and my
worth will not be determined by your approval or opinion and I
won't stay up late wondering if God loves me
because I'll just know that He does.
One day
I will wake up next to my beautiful wife
long after I've forgiven you and
I will love my daughter
like you never could.

Reading this poem brought memories of the struggle, I have my own mom, regarding her acceptance of me, as her trans-lesbian daughter. Seven years have passed, and I will never walk into her house, with any future girlfriend, to meet her.
