Total Recount

Total Recount

A Poem by Pamela Griffiths
"

This poem is about how life can pass us by without us noticing. Then old age sets in and we reflect on what we have or have not done with our lives.

"

Counting the years as they have gone by

I need a recount, I need to know why

Where have they gone? What happened, and when?

I used to be young and I had a life then

Lost in confusion, I live while I can

The total years of life have a short span

Life can be hurtful, it can be sad

But I'm so grateful of what I've had

I can't turn back the hands of time

The life I have lived at least it was mine

I'm sorry that I never made the grade

So into the background I gently fade

The years they flashed by, they went so fast

This was my life, and now it's my past

Nothing can stop time from ticking away

This is my life what more can I say.

I do not regret anything that I've done

Through some sadness there was also fun

Too many heartaches and too many tears

I need a total recount of my living years
