Warmth

Warmth

A Chapter by Kathryn Smith

Tell me.

Did you see the news last night?

Because in your warmth I forget how cold it can be

and In your heat I feel how cold it can get.

I do not feel good.

I do not want this to be happening.

My worst nightmare came true today.

A dangerous man who does not respect women was elected the leader of my country.

A man who I do not have a lot of faith in.

I try to be someone positive.

Someone who tries to put my feet in the shoes of others..

But with this guy?

There's a nasty feeling in my gut. It won't go away. It's a constant feeling of dread and anxiety.

I am terrified.

Ashamed to be an American.

So what do we do when the news gets too horrific?

When the evil power and greed take over?

When we don't feel safe?

We find distractions.

We love.

We laugh.

We live.

I'm disappointed with where my country is, but it's not the end of the world.

The sun will still rise each day.

Christmas is still on the way.

I have to keep living my life.

Nothing lasts forever...

So I'll keep walking around the universe.

Looking to be held in a wild, wild, world.

Eh . . . I'm a Trump guy!

Men have come planning to end the world. A few decades ago Africa was colonized, India was struggling for freedom and China was fighting within itself. Men like Adolf Hitler, Stalin divided the world. Hiroshima and Nagasaki never became the same. Yet humanity has struggled and existed. After the darkest night there can only be dawn. At times like this we should not forget what we have achieved, and what we shall not forsake. In Louis Armstrong's words 'Its a wonderful world', and we all should work to keep it that way.

"Nothing lasts forever...
So I'll keep walking around the universe.
Looking to be held in a wild, wild, world."

The most beautiful way to have concluded this amazingly touchy piece.

Change is always a difficult thing to adjust to, especially one of this magnitude. I think you're right in saying you need to live your life in this wild world.

Well done, keep writing

perfect capture of a feeling most us have !

You are spot on Kathryn! People from around the world are baffled with the results and praying God Help America. Your poem too reflects a bit of anxiety people have now.

As per my opinion, you should trust God and the system. Because, now for those who pray Trump's rule may fail are forgetting they are sitting in the same plane of which they are unaware about the Pilot's expertise.

Hope and Trust for a good governance.

P.S: The video you have attached is not available!

Thankfully one man does not have complete charge of America, we still have congress and the senate. Just pray that he choses his advisers from smart and true blue Americans that know something about government and making good choices. Maybe he will finally learn to keep his foul and stupid remarks to himself. Valentine

I understand your words. Our world did change.
"Nothing lasts forever...
So I'll keep walking around the universe.
Looking to be held in a wild, wild, world. "
I agree with the above lines. We must say positive and try to have some fun. Thank you dear Kathryn for sharing the amazing poetry.

Me too. Mad-men scare me. No plan, just a talker. I hope the talker can do the walk also.
