Forever and Always

Forever and Always

A Story by Kathryn Smith

You warmed my winter

I am going to miss those car rides

The ones where my heart was nervous

My cold body ached

The dead world going by

in slow motion through my windshield

But I knew when I'd walk in

Your eyes would find me

And I'd fiddle with the button

On my old black coat.

I find it Ironic that I found you

On the feast for St Blaise

Oh what a Blaise it was

A piece of me will always love you

Because you are my other half

I may never get to fully love you

But I will keep you forever and always

Inside my heart

I can still see the look in your eyes

And I can still hear your giddiness

Our hearts were brought together

By God himself

And our feet marched toward the sky

Will you run with me?

Can we fly?

I can feel your soul loving me

I can hear your heart racing

Your love fills the room

My light inspires you

My hands tremble

My head wanted to rest on you

Your arms encircle me

Your head on mine

But what will the world say?

What do the rules say?

Take me to California

Love me in dusk

Time flies by with you

Don't go
Don't leave
I whisper

But you will remember me

And I will wait

For coffee

And for Autumn

For your hands to sneak up

And cover my eyes
