Innocence & Cruelty

Innocence & Cruelty

A Poem by ParkerTheWriter

You have the power of making a difference in someone's day.

We are born innocent, but we learn to be cruel,
whether caused by a history of pain or under the social pressures of being "cool",

The sociological tools used to combat these problems are quickly becoming extinct,
We have bred some of the greatest minds the world has known, yet we still don't understand how to think,

We are all on a battlefield with ourselves everyday.
Someone you have encountered today may be struggling with such immense pain.
They may be hiding it or giving you clues and hints that they feel this way.
Don't ridicule them, help them. You just may be the reason they have a pleasant day,
Ending it with a smile stretched across their face,

I enjoy reading philosophy. It's become one of my favorite reading materials. I'm very politically minded, often thinking of the faults and f**k ups of the world rather than the positive things in fro.. more..
