Something You Took

Something You Took

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Something You Took

You didn’t love me at all.

In your suffering and pain

I was just your paracetamol

to dull the ache

and mask the guilt;

just something you took.

And I fell to be taken,

like a trusting child

open armed and reaching,

besotted as you smiled

to steal my heart and soul;

just something you took.

Its like wind better out than in they say! whatever the consequences lol!!!
Could definitely feel the pain in this one. Sometimes it works that way when we give our all we end up hurting. Great write!

So pleased you felt this one Aaron
a bad feeling when you know you were just being used

Yes WM really bad! Thanks.
Nice write! The comparison to a pill is brilliant and the tone of the poem is just the right mix of anger, sadness, and a pinch of forlorn... hinting that 'something you took' was also 'something I lost'.

Wow Mark spot on. That is what I felt. Many thanks!
You showed this at one meeting too I think?
Or it could have been one of the ones I read and loved so much.
Love it. As always. Which you knew anyways, right?

I'm a little jealous that you get to say you wrote this, especially those lines I quoted. I read them a couple of times out loud just to hear them. Magic in the form of words! Heartbreak is crushing. I can’t imagine having my heart broken only to find out that that person never loved me to begin with. You're a beautiful poet and I will never get tired of reading your work.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
