Into The Dark

Into The Dark

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Just imagining the desperation some feel.

"

Into The Dark

I am forsaken,

abandoned hope,

now all that's left

for me is the rope.

I'll seek it out,

the ladder too,

dressing gown cord

I'm sure will do.

I'll hang it well

and form the noose

place it round my neck,

but not too loose.

I'll take that final step,

whisper goodbye

and think of all my loves

before I die.

Very powerful words, that all too many of us can relate to. I personally think writing helped me through my darkest days, and perhaps even shone some light my way too.
Your words convey the deepest aches beautifully.

Oh my...really sad and scary at the same time. Yup...as the hopes shatter, people take to ropes. Very well conceived...and written!

No problem
Very powerful write, and most of us have worked through the idea of suicide in moments of deep sadness, even if less of us have the courage to take the final step. A fine write full of thought..

Thank you Leslie.
I can personally say that this is indeed the way it was for me. The planning was done in such a calm (frighteningly so) way and the sheer relief, once the decision to proceed was taken, was felt immeadiately.
I was lucky.
I wish all were as lucky.
Well penned John.

Welcome John - you've a good heart sir.

"This is the End. My only friend, the End." This poem expresses suicidal ideation in all of its detached affect and plan. The calm before the storm..and then, the End. Eloquence, great flow and rhyme for a sad subject. Dark and hauntingly elegant.

A sad journey in the poem. Last thoughts before suicide. I believe regret. A powerful poem making the reader feel the journey and the ending. Thank you John for sharing your amazing poetry and thoughts.

A suicidal mind is so cut off from reality and you captured it so well. Sadly, when they do it there are no whispers or departing angels. Its an ugly,, final end.

This rhyming poem from you is appreciated so much!

You are welcome John.
reminds me of some celebrities who have done it this way....when the pressure of life becomes that noose around our necks, and there seems no other way out...
disturbingly good write.
