Reformation RevisitedA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenThese themes haunt so many.Reformation Revisited Memories of
dark priests give voice
to my pen. Their black
misdeeds like weal marks upon my
white catholic skin. And to think
I bent, genuflected,
in homage to such
evil, thinking it pure. How can such
innocence be betrayed so? How can such
betrayal be repaid when denial
and power and self
serving servants of Satan
walk the earth in cassocks? Better we
wipe the slate clean, wipe the
planet clean of such
divisive, venomous snakes. Send them
all to whichever Hades they
call home for they are
all killers of hope who told us
saviours were coming and
our misdeeds would be excused. They made up
their dogma and told of
it with salivating lips, like jackals
intent on a meal of living
flesh, and told us our sins
would be forgiven. In reality
our sins, our
inherited stains, were no more
than shadow
shackles invented to control
our thoughts, deeds and
actions. They shrank into pale
insignificance against the
false doctrine these men of
god incanted in pseudo
psalms. While they
were collecting gold, raping
children and urging
war upon the innocent. 17/08/19 © 2019 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's NoteReviews
