Yes, Governments have that power. They can demand that their servicemen go into battle and give them permission to kill. Then when the war is over and the servicemen desperately need help with mental health and homes, they abandon them. Powerful piece John.

the song surely fits the theme of this poem...reminds me of Vietnam and how the soldiers were treated when they came back...i firmly believed in the protests against that senseless war, but not the mistreatment of the soldiers who were only doing what the powers that be made them.
