Yes, Governments have that power. They can demand that their servicemen go into battle and give them permission to kill. Then when the war is over and the servicemen desperately need help with mental health and homes, they abandon them. Powerful piece John.

No. We have had a people's vote. A second vote would be even more devisive. We don't keep having referendums because we don:t like the results. General Election required to sort Parliament out and remove those self serving Brexit Blockers :) Democracy comes first.

I meant before committing to war. I am with you on Brexit and I am beginning to resent Jo Swinson and the Labour lot for all their lies about democracy!

Sorry John, talking at cross purposes. Difficult one, we certainly don't want the likes of Tony Blair taking us into a war under false pretences again. On the other hand, I don't like referendums, look at the trouble they cause. Undecided. Agree with you about Swindon and Labour. They don't understand democracy. They have lost the plot :)

the song surely fits the theme of this poem...reminds me of Vietnam and how the soldiers were treated when they came back...i firmly believed in the protests against that senseless war, but not the mistreatment of the soldiers who were only doing what the powers that be made them.
