Satch

Satch

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

So many jazz greats but this guy could play trumpet and get down to all the low vocal notes. And with this amazing woman a match made in heaven for all jazz fans!

"

His trumpet blue breath

and his rich gravelly voice

will live forever.

Louis and Ella together are some of my all time favorite songs. He was a superb entertainer. And together they were magical.

You’re very good at condensing an idea or mood like this, John. I love the expression ‘blue breath’ and the dual idea it creates in my mind. You’ve offered a fitting tribute to a great musician and showman here. His smile and spirit were infectious. And his trumpeteering is instantly recognizable.

Lovely work.

Thank you Eilis. I find his voice transforms my moods as does all trad jazz.
"Hello Dolly, this is Louis, Dolly...it's so nice to see you back where you belong...."
i like your tributes to jazz...even with jazz not being my favorite music...i love the Blues though.
