A Cowards ChoiceA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenDuring this pandemic it is our duty to humanity to consider things in the round.Shall we cower in our homes beneath the spectres raised in broadsheet shrouds and spewed in black half-truths from the infected, spit filled mouths of our leaders. Shall we distance ourselves not only from neighbours and friends but from truth, from our own mortality, our inability to command the flood of virus waves cascading upon our shores, and by opposing end
them. Shall we deconstruct
society, destroy our economy and our children's
futures simply out of fear? Need we send millions
to food banks, cause such savage
destitution and unemployment as
to garner a dystopian
world full of resentment
and division? Are we such cowards that death can
command such a price, at the cost of saving
a few good 'men' and true, and a few really evil
b******s too? 27/09/20 © 2020 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's NoteReviews
