Ode To Gingers

Ode To Gingers

A Poem by Dara

Hair that glistens shiny and bright

like sparkling diamonds in the morning light.

Glorious to the touch, a sight to behold

glamorous, stylish, beautiful and bold.

Oh to be a ginger so carefree and fun

  like a brand new penny

as  bright as any sun.

Strawberry blond, auburn, copper

nothing in this world will ever top her.

A ginger girl is full of vamp and vigor.

She’s every man’s dream, a fantasy figure.

Mixed with sugar and spice

you must add it twice

to get the perfect recipe

for everything

nice.

Please make the font bigger.... that's headache inducing.

Did you know that most of us gingers think of the term ginger like most black people think of the term n****r?

Yeah.. we don't like it, never have. You see it on tv because it's funny. And it is when being used in the right context, just like the word n****r. But for christ's sake stop using it as if it's a compliment... that's not what it is!!!!

This poem is joke to me for that reason.

It was written well enough though, still, extreme lack of self awareness leaves more no choice but to give you a poor grade.

Very nice and for years I felt my first true love was a "Ginger". I have found over the years I am drawn to "Ginger" and have many fond memories. Thanks for lighting them up in my mind again.

I am happy that I have rekindled some fond memories. Thank you so much for this sweet review :-)
I have never known many gingers, in fact I cant think of any except maybe someone in passing. I have always thought of them as being so unique though. Although they seem to sunburn so easily. Smooth flowing piece Dara and a lovely tribute to your ginger sister.

Your sister must love this poem! Yes, there is something special about a natural redhead. Unfortunately, the ones who are dyed that color are sometimes way too orange or maroon! An adorable tribute! Lydi**

You are so right!
I've always thought that color of hair was attractive. And Maureen, well, no kid of the fifties could have missed out on her. How lucky your sister is to have you dedicate poems to her.

This sounds like my kind of girl.

I do remember the actress Maureen O'hara. If I'm not mistaken she was in a couple of movies with John Wayne and one with Santa Claus as well. A beautiful woman. And this is a beautiful poem.

Thank you Julie. It is always so nice to see you here :-)
Her roles opposite John Wayne were legendary for the fire and grit...

We ascribe so much personality to "ginger" - I wonder if it truly rubs off or its but another fantasy of hype and advertising discretion.
