Autumn ladies of sun-kissed leaves

Autumn ladies of sun-kissed leaves

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Black ravens and sunflower seeds, Dahlias in party dresses, sweet caresses

"
The rich October sun and mango leaves falling...
create a bed of nostalgic colors... remembering
the black berry currents of desire...
where wheat and sunflowers explored the
scattering of seeds...

Now my heart pleads for a warm fire with
embers of devotion and pleasure while
snow clouds whisper sweet nothings and
holiday dreams are filled with persimmon
pleasure and naughty nectars of delight...

May the Nutcracker violin music soothe
your heart and create a haven for sweet dreams...

Your imagery is stunning & intoxicating! I love autumn, but I've never imagined so many sensory details that carry us along on a leafy breeze! I love the way each of your stanzas carries on about a distinct aspect of the very things many of us love about autumn. After our blistering summers here, I'm longing for the warmth of my woodstove, too! *smile* Fondly, Margie

Indeed Patricia, 'tis true that the autumn of life brings riches beyond compare.

Long may the blackberry currents of desire continue to flow.

I enjoyed this poem--especially the Nutcracker violin music. I love Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker--I have since about the age of three when I saw and heard it for the first time. I listed to it almost every night as I fell asleep for years, so having it create a haven for sweet dreams is a very apt image for me!
I have too suggestions. First, I think you overuse ellipses. I tend to think of ellipses as being used to trail off into thought. They can create strong imagery, once--maybe twice in a long poem.
Second, the mango leaves falling don't work for me. I'm living in a tropical climate right now--I have a mango tree in my back-yard. Sometimes the mango leaves fall, but they don't change color, and they have nothing to do with seasons, and certainly nothing to do with cooling down. It's simply hot, all the time! So I don't think it is quite the image you are going for!
But, I really enjoyed the imagery of the rest of the poem!

A beautiful poem dear friend. I like the change of color too. Allow us to see the change of the death of the leave as beautiful knowledge. In the Spring. They can rebirth. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

I love your work and you are welcome.
Your words are a soft caress, Pat. Music from the Nutcracker, the warmth of a fire, the devotion of a lover or friend.....just gorgeous. You touch on all the senses and the imagery is absolutely splendiferous! The graphic you used is one of my favorites. A great job here. Lydi**

The very same to you, Pat. The Nutcracker is my favorite ballet.
Beautifully expressed October. I can almost taste the ginger spice cookies and get the sense of the indoor pleasures of the oncoming change in season. You paint a wonderful memory Pat. Thank you.
