Opulence of July

Opulence of July

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Summer blooms in colors of fireworks...

"
Colors of flowers lie across amber waves of grain

Our Nation ponders the vision of our founding fathers...

Generous spacious skies of freedom cover the earth

We fervently need a new birth with intensity of spirit...

Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness

there is an opulence and over doing it when it comes to fireworks and the 4th ... i appreciate your "theft" of amber waves of grain ... i think it really works well .. very conjuring for me .. and i could not agree more with the sentiments expressed .. we need a new and revitalized spirit ... appreciation of just what those great men and women did in birthing a new nation can never be underplayed ... every nation in the known world at the time was ruled by a King and his armies ... never had anything like our balance of power been thought of let alone launched ... we loose that these days me thinks ... the masses seem to think our government is some entity that needs pilfering ... and maybe there is some truth to that .. hmmmmmmmmm i love the USA .. i truly do ... but i'm worried about Her as well .. thanks for sharing your poem ... i find it inspiring and real

A beautiful image to accompany your golden words Pat. Your lines especially written for the 4th July. It seems there is much that needs to be improved at the moment. I hope you get the new birth and intensity of spirit that you and many others desire. All good wishes to you from across the pond.

The entire poem fills me with the same feelings of freedom and waywardness as an open field. I really liked the expression "We fervently need a new birth with intensity of spirit... " Every nation needs new births, as in new innovations and amendments because with each passing year, societies change, and so should the rules they are made to follow. Only then can a nation breathe and stay alive.

Sometimes wonder if politicians do look back. Think if they did they would realise the bloody poor job they are doing. But freedom is hard fought and must never be forgotten.

Yeah, democratic countries do seem to have this hidden dictatorship below the surface.
Such an uplifting poem but aspirational given the state of the earth as it stands at the mercy of man and evolution and what lies beyond our current comprehension.
