Wood Thrush summer songs

Wood Thrush summer songs

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

sweet chirps... welcoming young hatchlings...

"
Living in a tree house where Wood Thrush nest
waking when the sun rises in colors of yellow and rose...

Little hatchlings chirp for food as Mom sits over
her little brood and Dad looks for morsels to bring...

We have placed special seed at our feeder close by
as planning is perfect for our feathery friends...

The songs of the Wood Thrush are like water flowing
and water lillies growing with leaping frogs...

We look forward to the recitals of fledglings
learning all the notes of orchestrated symphonies...

Nature in all its colors and sounds with butterflies
on silver wings shaded with sky blue reflections...

I had to look these little guys up on Google so I could see what they look like, and I found that they're related to the robin. I became acquainted with the nesting and nurturing instincts of the mourning dove, after having three nests in one year outside my bedroom window. My cats were as much a captive audience as I was, so I can truly appreciate your welcoming of the hatchlings. A most delightful of a read, Pat!

the rushing gushing shrill song of the thrush is very pretty indeed... i just looked it up and listened to some recordings! That would be a pleasant sound to wake up to in the morning:) I have heard them before when traipsing in the woods but never knew who was making the sounds before. living in the city its easy to forget the melodies of nature but they are so entwined in my memories ears i recognized the song instantly. a lovely tune you typed Patricia

Your love for nature, its inhabitants and the creator behind all is evident and true. Your delicate spirit is touched by the small hatchlings. And then your generosity even to those little ones is immeasurable. I do feed mine too and keep the birds happy.

All wonderful things....
I have loved birds in a general way, but not paying attention to their individual magic. This poem makes me want to pay more attention to these little guys becuz the things you notice & share are so delightful. Especially how you describe the songs in 4th couplet. This is magic! I am craning my ears to discern the different morning calls & chatter around here just now! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Such a tranquil scene you describe here. The birds protecting their young and serenading you as you watch. The hatchlings will sing you through summer days now. So lovely. Lydi**

Beautiful nature poem Pat. Birdsong and all the activity of bird life in the garden is so enthralling. So captivating to watch those fledglings, and don't you just feel for them? Hard working parents always on the go to do their best to nurture their young in the nest. We have blackbirds nesting in our garden and much joy do they bring to my world. Thank you for these uplifting lines.
