My Blue Flamingo feelings

My Blue Flamingo feelings

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

On cold Winter nights... when stars align just right

I dream of Blue Flamingoes and visions of you...

Your feathers kept me warm as we sailed on the

blue Nile River near the Great Pyramids...

I will be forever true to the moments spent

with you... and the beauty of the sky and sighs...

Remembering the clouds in shapes of Sphinx

with the body of a Lion and the head of a King...

Your strength and wisdom became your charm.

Your Mr. charm should treat you royally with a journey along the Blue Nile then to see the ancient glory of Egypt and its wonder. Looking at the stars and galaxies at night is a sight to behold. Wonderful romantic poem with class and song quality from you Patricia Wedel.

I thought the blue flamingos were all in South America... but the thing that puzzles me more in reading this was the transition between the second and third lines. The address seems to be to something with feathers, yet, not to the flamingos, as it is addressed "your" and not "their" and also singular rather than plural. I was at a loss there. Nor could I fathom what it was with such strength and wisdom and feathers...an owl perhaps? But why would anyone ride down the Nile with an owl? This one left me slightly confused.

I never knew blue flamingos were real before I googled them up a few minutes ago. They look absolutely magnificent, and I love the regal tone of this poem.

This is one of your best poems lately. I love how you seemingly describe memories of a place, but these descriptions can also serve to describe your traveling partner's physical delights, especially second-to-last line, lovely double entendre! I also love how your use of the color blue can serve to denote a sad feeling AND some bright memory from the past, bouncing a wintry beginning against the summery reverie that comes a little later. That blue biz is woven nicely that way! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A love poem Pat and set in the romance Egypt. I had thoughts of Anthony and Cleopatra. I saw Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. I felt their passion. Love the visuals here and the dreams of blue flamingoes. Stately, elegant birds. The blue speaks to me of sadness. There is love as well as loss here. A most beautiful poem which makes me pause and reflect on life and loves.
