Spotted Towhee stole my heart

Spotted Towhee stole my heart

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

Walking along a Trail in California

where sagebrush creates a hush and

winds blow around on hallowed ground...

I saw a Spotted Towhee on a Cactus flower

showing his feathers of grey and orange

He was reciting poetry with greatest of ease...

He seemed to know a womans heart like a

Rose knows when to bloom in petals soft

where dewdrops lie in tender grass...

and both embrace the beginning of Love.

This is HANDS DOWN your best bird poem EVER (and you've got tons of great ones!) I don't think you can top a PERFECT poem like this (I've described a poem as "perfect" only 3 or 4 times), but I know you'll try (not becuz you're clever & talented, but becuz you're cantankerous) heh! heh! heh! This is unbelievable becuz of how my mind was riding parallel rails between the idea of thinking myself an actual bird & how that would feel with the other guy flirting it up . . . and then I was also imagining your poem as a human and hearing the bird, wanting to believe it's flirting with me! After a while, I couldn't tell where I left off & the bird began! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
