Audition at Stage Door

Audition at Stage Door

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

As an Artist of world acclaim...

I spread my golden lined wings to

welcome your embrace of charmed smiles...

Dressed in finest fashion with Vogue design

I turn a pretty leg long and seductive as

I read the script to the Movie "Born of Desire".

The Director is impressed as he keeps abreast

of the latest profiles for coming attractions.

A Shoe-in for the Lead, I grasp the intention of

the narritive and give it my best Shot with ardor...
"I beg your Pardon, I didn't promise to be as gifted as

Katherine Hepburn... "  She was the greatest" !!

The best part of this poem is your playfulness & imagination. This might be the furthest ANYONE has taken personification of something from nature . . . you set the scene so strikingly, along with a mighty sassy feathery who really seems to think she CAN compete with ole Kate! *wink! wink!* This modesty is not to be believed, in my estimation. Ms. PEPburn (the bird) knows she can kick the pants off anything that comes out of Hollywood! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

My pleasure Pat :) 🌈
I read Hepburn's autobiography entitled, "Me". She was an interesting and intelligent woman, outspoken and brave. Our fine feathered friend would likely be lauded by Katherine as she was a great lover of the outdoors as well. An interesting read, I enjoyed.

Thank you!
Pat, as a fellow bird lover, I truly enjoyed this poem. Not only do I see the colors and imagine the sounds, I get the attitude you've expressed here. Katherine Hepburn's prime came before I my time, but I remember her well with John Wayne in Rooster Cogburn (U.S. Marshal). Even without looking at the scene, we know her voice, much like the birds in our garden. A fine, entertaining work, Pat.

Lynn Anderson would smile upon this poem...
and if the director were to not be impressed, then he could go sit in the garden and ponder the chance he lost to make a star shine in his movie...
