A Pale Green Moon for Halloween

A Pale Green Moon for Halloween

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

The Moon on the Eve of Halloween appeared pale green as

Lizards surrounded the smiling Pumpkins with fire-lit eyes...

The stars scattered like broken strings of Pearls when Angels

collide with Witches in Black velvet Hats chasing Bats...

All Saints Knights in shining Armour walk the Fields of

Golden Cornstalks and Child-like Urchins searching for

Tricks or Treats with Black Cats prowling with Skeletons...

Well Halloween has arrived in the UK dear Pat. I just looked out of the sloping window in my roof. All is pitch black, no moon of any colour let alone green, but plenty of rain. Looks like a wet one. The witches and bats will all need raincoats. We have a carved pumpkin, we will be having pumpkin soup and we have plenty of treats for little callers. Thank you for your Halloweeny poetry. Have a good one :)

Love the imagery in this poem Pat. Excellent work. I'm reminded of walking the neighborhoods of my youth in costume for bags full of candy. I was so poor one year that my cousin dressed me up in one of her Sunday church dresses and put a wig borrowed from her mom on my head. The funny thing was no one could tell I was a little 9 year old boy. Everyone thought I was a 13 yr old girl, and I also got more candy than anyone else. I had such a soft high pitch voice then that even when I talked I myself couldn't tell I was a boy. I had even fooled my mom who upon seeing me wished she could have had a girl instead of three boys. Thank you for your nice homage to my favorite day of the year.

Well Pat, they do say the moon is made of cheese, so it stands to reason a bit of mould would appear. I mean, the use before date must have expired ages ago! 😊
Spooktacular helloween shenaginan.... Shinangin.... Mischief 😉
Now don't you be opening your door unless you are absolutely sure it's a goblin, ghoul or someone howling at the moon. There's a lot of weirdos out there 😊
