Butterfly Dreams

Butterfly Dreams

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

was for a contest i never entered.. based on a picture .. a beautiful picture it was

"

I awake to billowy clouds above my head
The scent of sea and salt tickle my nose
Arousing me fully
The ship is moving once again

Who has come to save me
After the sails were ripped apart by strong winds
pounding rains, the ship almost lost if not for a small rock
That stopped it without much damage

I stand up and look at the wonderous sight that beholds my eyes
Seems the stories are true that I have heard throughout life
For the Butterfly King and Queen are at the helm
Thier Royal Army have made sails for the ship
All colors of the rainbow and beyond assualt my sleepy eyes

It floats along merrily toward my homeland
In the distance I see my friends waving
I play my ukelele and sing a Summer song
As the dolphins swimming aside the ship pipe in so strong

The King and Queen have nothing to say
So I sing quietly
to my surprise hear them humming along
The Army floats us softly to shore
Home again to safety and the ones I adore

Such a lovely dream I don't want to wake
under the covers I crawl
squeeze eyes tight
waiting for the ship of butterflies
to sail me away from my troubles
to a calm sea of beautiful colored bubbles
perhaps a mermaid will stop and say hello

Chloe, it sounds like such a beautiful dream. Still as much as we would like to hide from the harsh realities of life. We can because as they say If you don't stand for something, You will fall for anything. I know that is not a choice you would willingly make. Your voice rang out all over the cafe as an advocote for the poor hurt and down trodden even those who are just misunderstood. Our voice reminding us to be loving and compassionate to each other. It is a good write but I miss my inspiration. Yes You. Lrts talk.

rare poems have the ability to transport the reader to another place
and time, creating an environment where the heart can watch the sea
"I play my ukelele and sing a Summer song
As the dolphins swimming aside the ship pipe in so strong"
the entire poem is a jewel of imagery, and each passing scene is an emotion,
and the effect is dreamy, a realm where wonders and wishes come true,
such a lighthearted feeling, you've done an excellent job creating
the dream in essense of thought chloe, i thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

... this is just out of this world spectacular and amazing ... and i must share something with you ... the "butterfly" was originally called "the flutter by" ... because it just fluttered by ... it's one of the most exotic manifestations of natural beauty ever and so this poem ... and this verse in particular ... reaches me at a million levels ... it is ultimately natural beauty that rescues us from oh so many debilitating woes ... for me the flutter by is one of the examples of the artistic excellence of the universe ... what an expression it is ... and if there is an army of them to consume one's soul ... what else can one need to heal ... this is such a powerful metaphor ... for me poetry is a flutter by ... for someone else it could be music ... it could be art ... it could be cinema ... it could be dance ... but wherever there is quintessential beauty ... there is an army of butterflies ... there is magic potion ... and how easily we miss it ... the last stanza takes this verse into an even more surreal level ...

Such a lovely dream I don't want to wake
under the covers I crawl
squeeze eyes tight
waiting for the ship of butterflies
to sail me away from my troubles
to a calm sea of beautiful colored bubbles

... "calm sea of beautiful colored bubbles" ... that's so profound ... and hence colour therapy ... systematic or not ... the sheer sight of colours is so calming and comforting ... most of us manage to survive and live because the shade card of life has so many enchanting and bewitching colours ... and i must add that because i love butterflies ... i read a lot of verses about them ... and very few even begin to do justice to the visual splendour of a butter fly ... but you exceeded my expectations ... and by light years ... this is exquisite beauty ... and this is exquisite poetry ... what an amazingly enriching read ... so memorable ...

Stunning in your scope, the sea alive around you, and the enchanted imagery of the butterly ship! It is filled with the color and magic of life seeking out the port of peace. What a wondrous write! (Only wish there was more!)

The descriptions are vivid, I could visualize a panoramic view of the sea . I could actually feel that I am a part of this luxurious dream. Amazing !

This was a charming Alice in Wonderland sort of dream... and the last verse brought out the reality of needing to escape from a sea of troubles into another world...

'a sea of butterflies'... I like that thought - fragile, fluttering, soft wings and beautiful colours...

Yes the restoring is tiring, but won't it be great when we're done. I have a few left to go, but took the day off yesterday to be lazy. Hopefully I finish it sometime today.

It's great to see this back...one good thing about the deletion is the opportunity to go back and revisit pieces that I loved to read. Funny we didn't do that before...well I learned a lesson there.

Thanks for restoring this :)

Sounds like a child's dream all full of lovely things. Everyone needs a safe place to go. Reminded me a bit of the Madonna song Dear Jessie (I think). Glad to see you stayed Chloe and equally pleased to see new stuff. Yep re-posting is tiring but i'm totally embracing it. Keep writing Sam x
