The Window

The Window

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

memories

"
Through this window
I see reflections through time
raindrops shimmer as do
memories -

Sing for us my mother pleads
I sing but only for her

Wear your yellow dress
it brings out your eyes
I want to wear purple I say
No, yellow just for me?

If you see your father
turn and run say
nothing to him

I wonder why

I'm sorry to bother you
I need another pill
bother me?

My mother how could you
ever bother me?

Lie with me for awhile
let's just talk

Talk and talk and talk

Her time is near
I'm so afraid
Mother don't die
stay with me
stay with me
stay

Daddy came calling
he isn't an ogre
I find myself in him

Daddy are you okay?
wake up..
Daddy-
please don't die
stay with me
stay with me
stay

Gone both
I am all alone

The sun has stopped crying
 raindrops dried their eyes
memories fleeting yet  linger

Mommy, his precious voice says
can we go outside and play

I watch him playing digging for worms
snails and buried treasure
so little it takes to make this
little one happy

Mom and Dad are gone
he and I alone
with each other

I close my eyes
open to see my Mother
and Daddy looking at me

Through his eyes
they are still with me-
within space and time
love never dies

This is very moving. I really enjoy the how well you put the pain into word that really strike home. I love anything that has even the slightest feel of stream of conscious writing, and your writing just seems to follow someone exact thought process. I think it's amazing how you have been able to illustrate the chaos of thought while still maintain enough cohesion to make the story comprehensible.

Recollections reflected through raindrops and shimmering glass... What an atmosphere of memories you create.. voiced over the years.. still lingering..

This is beautiful. I love the the briefness of your lines. It adds to the impact of the emotions. I can feel a heartbeat in this. It's painful, but not blindingly so ... more nostalgically painful.

Truly beautiful work, Chloe. I love your author's note, too ... that is poetry in and of itself.

lost and love...your cleverly constructed poem shows emotional confusion, acceptance, lost and love . A spectrum of emotions held together in an eloquent style

Heart wrenching poetry, often we dwell on our memories of those asleep in slumbers deep, waiting to be awakened, how I long to see my parents and brothers once again, good poetry

This is so gorgeous, really I could feel the loss, the pain, the suffering.
All of the emotions love keeps hidden from us, amazing job, I loved it.

Since some of us have a gift to remember...when we travel in the past the mind seems to bring.. not what we want.. but what it's been plant..
So I see here.. you have memories and I hope they won't hurt you.
I like the mind ..the flow, the spirit.. this is a great piece.

Time has no power over memories. No matter how time flies too swiftly, leaving yesterday behind, nature would always find way to make us pause and look back for awhile. Somehow memories has the power to inspire us emotionally as we take another step toward the future.
