Love Smoke

Love Smoke

A Poem by Paul Bell

I draw you in
Five rings of smoke appear like magic
Your face on every one
Christ how romantic am I
Maybe drink a JD  in your honour
It's amazing how little things bring you to me
The phone comes alive halfway through your honour
Your soft sexy voice sends a tingle down my spine
You say it's over
Well, that was out of the blue
I draw you in
The sign on the packet
Smoking can damage your health and eventually kill you
So profound
I check the bottle of JD
No warning on that
You disappear into the clouds
Every one a silver lining.

Quite a few me thinks.
different ways to loves discovery Paul; and different approaches to writing a love poem.
The way my dad use to blow smoke rings for me when I was a child, I grew up thinking that smoke
was an invention. His invention. But smoke, as you have suggested, is just the byproduct
of the smoldering of life's travails / Love will do that to you..

beautifully written..dana

I love the parallels you're drawing between substances that are bad for us, along with apparent bad tidings from the narrator's beloved. Way back in my younger days, I didn't like cigarette smoke, but becuz it was intrinsically connected to many romantic encounters, I loved smelling it when kissing one or two of my ex's . . . same thing with beer, which I always hated, but it brought back lustful memories . . . so I totally get this connection you're describing! *smile*

Smoke and beer, reminds me of my ex's from yesteryear.
Glad it brought it all back.

Thanks Lynn.
It would be nice if everyone had a silver lining. Sadly that is not the case for many people. Valentine

Strange, so strange, how the most beautiful of experiences can cause such damage and - there's no a label or sign to be read pre.arrival, during presence but... is oh so very visible after tis gone.

You've wound your words so concisely and naturally around the theme. Takes reality as well as skill to do that.
