Somebody's Else's Star

Somebody's Else's Star

A Poem by Pauline Marie Daley
"

Sometimes if you really love someone, you have to give them up.

"

I love you.

Three words that for you alone hold true.

But three could be three thousand,

And I still couldn't say them to you.

We follow the same road to life,

But you're in a different lane.

I cry out and try to reach you, so I might,

In eternity with you remain.

Watching you climb our mountain so high,

Your strength, your might, for me?

Wishing that the peak could puncture the sky.

Rejoicing at the top, just you and me.

But a fork divides our path just up ahead.

And I can't see around the bend.

But whereever you, by your path are led,

Know that you'll always be my best friend.

So as I sit here alone, wondering where you are,

I realize that you just might have to be,

            somebody else's star.

What a poignant ending. Always when we look back, we wonder "What if.." but life unfolds, and sometimes we are simply caught up in something meant to be. Rain..

This is such a creative way to reach the mind of one before taking that leap,
or catch those that took a running leap too soon. It's healing, soft, and a
comfort for me to read.
Great job!

A bit sad but sends a good message. I know from my own experiences that it is sometimes best to take the other fork. A nice poem, Marie

I like how you phrased everything. Sometimes you have to use your mind for love before letting your heart feel for them, no matter how much it hurts.
Excellent work!
