Aladdin and TricksA Chapter by Pawprints
He's not what you may expect of a Genie. He's not bright blue. He doesn't have a ponytail. He doesn't dress like he's from Aladdin. This Genie was around long before Walt Disney was born, or even the Grimm brothers were alive. As he was so keen to tell me when we first met, Genies were an endangered species, close to extinction.
Whether or not he was the last Genie on earth, I still hated his guts. "Well, Sadie," he said, bowing his head. "Isn't this a wonderful surprise?" I bit my tongue and watched him. He was tall, maybe 6'3 or 6'4. He had silver hair, though not from age, and bright blue eyes. If you looked close enough into those eyes, you could see just see how dead they actually were, the apparition that he was. "What do you want?" I asked, backing up towards the sinks. He looked up it the ceiling, humming to himself through an almost wicked leer. "I believe we have some unfinished business, Sadie Roberts," he said, bright white teeth flashing. I narrowed my eyes. "Isn't you ruining my life once good enough for you?" I demanded. He held up his hands defensively. "No need to get feisty. I just need to finish my job. I don't write the rules, I just follow them." "Can you follow these rules?" I snapped. "Get out." I stormed out of the bathroom and into the halls, ignoring the strange looks people threw my way. The Genie popped up beside me. I let a groan of frustration through my teeth. "Aw, come on," he said. I looked at him through the corner of my eye. He didn't look like a man. His face was timeless, sometimes resembling a boy's, sometime's resembling and old man. Right now it was a mischievous one of a twelve year old. "We had a deal!" "No," I murmured. "We never had a deal. You tricked me." "It was an honest mistake." "How was sneaking up on me when I was making a wish an honest mistake?" I roared. Everyone around me stared. The Genie blinked, and then vanished. I gave a desperate sigh, feeling my shoulders slumping. Why did this have to be happening again?
