Writer's Block

I wanted to write to you
I needed to get my thoughts down
Explore the mind I often try to hide
Release the emotions that are constantly overlooked and forgotten

I wanted to write to you
So I could feel
So I could be in touch with myself
Express the the smiles, frowns, and indifferences

I wanted to write to you
But my mind wouldn't let me
You see...there was nothing there
It was blank
Nothing filled the empty space

I wanted to write to you
But my heart rejected the notion
Dismissing every emotion

I wanted to write to you
But I just couldn't articulate
Nothing seemed good enough
Genuine enough
Authentic enough
Nothing seems authentic

I want to write to you but the words won't form
So I'll wait
And think of the things that may ignite a spark within my heart
I'll wait until my mind allows me to create pieces that not only reflect me but my entire species

I really wanted to write today
I really did...
