Something happened today
I am not quite sure how to describe it
Something happened today
That caused me to feel disquiet
At first I felt attacked
That's when my ego kicked in
Puffed out chest
Perched lips
Ready to defend
To secrete venom into your skin
Don't get me wrong, the exchanged words didn't lead to contact
Instead it caused turmoil
As if I was the one who got attacked
Still experiencing the shame with every flashback
But really it was conviction that plagued my heart
It wasn't what you did to me
Just my audacity
I couldn't shake it loose
Until I realized it was because of how I treated you
Some told me I did nothing wrong
It began to sound like a "She approached you" song
But I'm striving to be a better me
A spitting image of God's glory
So for me...
Something happened today
That took the form of an argument
Detecting
Exposing
Disclosing
Areas in need of improvement
Something happened today
I found an aspect of myself to work on
A way to get closer to the God I depend on
Something happened today
Something great happened today
