Deathly Advice

Deathly Advice

A Poem by Perdition

Don’t look-

it will find you

be ready,

have regrets but stay your instance

when the last breath enters

release it from the heart

remember what held you on those cold weary nights

when nothing but lies would fill you

remember these words and nothing else

don’t show your weather

wear the only mask you’ve ever known-

touch the soft end of pain when you leave, and

make it the last love you will ever fear

every tear that falls come December

make it lonely

remember that this was all but a memory

a shade gone unshared from a distant distance

a question we asked of each other

grasping past a life from a long place ago

Once I was foolish. I tested death. I volunteered for every dangerous place when I served. Old Native American saying. Death is always waiting on our left shoulder. I saw death take away friends and I agree with your words. Don't fear death, he comes when he want. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

I agree. Good to test life. Always something magically to see hidden. You are welcome my friend.
I never feared death, and my belief that when it comes to anyone of us, it will be smoothly, even those young ones who might be very sad leaving life, they will be embraced with warmth to comfort them, so I think Your words here will naturally come as we die, though, I don't see this as a death poem alone, but more of a conclusion, a resolution, specially as I read December, December symbolizes death, but then comes January, a new start, a re-birth. but one thing I do know for sure, for someone to write this, they must be going/went through lots and lots... warmest blessings for You dear Joe ✨🌸✨

YOU are always so welcome, and Thank You too :)
wow, this is an enticing poem...to welcome death with an open heart...that same heart that got us through life...even with the bad memories and the lies....living and loving was our truth....might have seemed a long time ago...but on our death bed...everything our life was and is will meet at that last moment.
this is such a good piece....one of the best i have read in a good while.
