Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve

A Poem by Aileen

It was the night before Christmas
And all was quiet
Not a single shot was fired
They’d bin at checkmate for a day or two
He was in his tent, thinking of home
His baby girl would be up soon.
He began to hum a song
There was a voice that began to sing along
It was not a langue that he could understand
But he knew the tone
He walked outside and sang along
Together they sang
There song filled the night
It reminded them of peace and happiness
Before soon everyone song long
There song filled the night sky
It reached to the heavens and beyond
For the first time they for got about war
They forgot their differences
And became one in song
As they sang along
They became one voice
In harmony
But the clock struck midnight
There song to an end
They had to fight again
But they’ll never forget
The night of Christmas Eve that they sang along.
