biting my nails

biting my nails

A Poem by Peter Truth

quick free write

Barely existing
running in place,
mostly just
taking up space.

Finding myself
is becoming
harder and harder,

starting to
look  more like
my father,

I knew
I would
and that's
not good.

Running but
can't get
at least
not today.

It's funny I too am somewhat like my father, but not entirely...and knowing that makes me realize that I can be much better...for he has failed to look in the mirror to see the harm he's done. Great poem!
