Afghanistan

Afghanistan

A Poem by OCT
"

From my perspective

"

Mountains rise as if the thrones of the Gods
Rivers of blood hold a people captive
Misery besets the mind like a plague
“What’s ours, what’s theirs?”
Fingers point for a fiend responsible
No loving God could oversee this
No loving God would see a man die in the desert
Yet we love God, knowing the folly of man
“I will find my paradise. If I must swim in the rivers”

Has the sound of one who has been and seen. The contrast between lines 1 and 2 tell much about that war torn country. Human pain and shortcomings tell more. There is frustration here, maybe some bitterness, but the last two lines rule out despair. Well done.
