Cross & Trident

Cross & Trident

A Poem by Tomislav Petricevic
"

A man payed for choosing neither God nor Satan, and the war between those two slowly destroyed the world...

"

A footprint in the mud,

Washed away by the rain,

A small trace of existence,

Left behind in pain.

Small leaves are soaring high,

Like falcons cutting air,

A burnt church crumbling,

Echoes of a forgotten prayer.

A war raged among these lands,

Religions clashed their thoughts,

Crooked visions clouded minds,

Vile hands tied the knots.

I stood there in the crossfire,

Refusing to take a side,

When a sharp cross pierced my heart,

And a trident crushed my pride.

My last sight left me dying there,

And wondering all the same,

Because the one who died for all of you,

Was crying bloody tears of shame.

I left the world forever that day,

All for your sinister plans,

You can hide it but He will know,

My blood is on your hands.

A controversial poem that will surely make people hate me, especially hardcore christians. I don't like church as an institution because it has strayed from its path a long time ago, teaching people to hate each other just because they are different and perhaps have some different beliefs. I don't want to be a part of that, so I have my own beliefs of being good and respectful in general, and if you don't like that, then you should probably know I don't care. But feel free to leave a hate comment if you are offended by my poem - that kind of stuff really amuses me, so I'd be thankful.

I actually like this poem a lot. I agree with you about those who teach people to hate others just because of their beliefs. Although I am thoroughly christian, i believe this work makes sense. We can all believe whatever we want to believe and still live together in peace. Nice work here, keep it up :)

"A war raged among these lands,
Religions clashed their thoughts"
